Wilk Elektronik SA has been present on the Polish IT market since 1991, in the beginning dealing only with distribution of memory modules. Development of the company and progressing specialization allowed taking a decision to start in Poland production of memory modules in 2003. Thanks to that achievement GOODRAM brand has quickly become recognized not just in Poland, but also in the majority of European states.
„Further distribution of Kingston products has become inconsistent with our strategy of building GOODRAM brand – explains Wiesław Wilk, the CEO of Wilk Elektronik SA – because it happened that our company was building also the market position of this competitive brand”. These words are confirmed with data regarding sales of memory modules for the first three quarters of 2007. GOODRAM brand constituted 42% of all modules sold in Poland, while the share of Kingston is estimated at approx. 40%. „Considering that we were one of the three biggest distributors of Kingston in Poland – it has become apparent that we worked not just for the position of our own brand, but also for the competitor” – emphasized Wiesław Wilk.
Actions taken by Wilk Elektronik SA are correlated with its development strategy adopted for 2008. It assumes continued strengthening of GOODRAM brand in the Polish market along with increased sales in the European markets translating into a higher market share. The company has also prepared a few interesting new products planned to be introduced to the market in the end of 2007 and the beginning of 2008. These include 16GB SDHC cards, Solid State Drive discs and DDR3 memory modules, among others.
